The seminar, supported by 22 sponsors and co-organizers and aptly themed: Innovations and Sustainability in Concrete Technology: Building a Stronger Future, garnered 11 renowned keynote speakers comprising industry experts, academics, and private practitioners to share their expertise and vast knowledge for the rapid advances and developments in concrete technology, which provided a forum to promote innovation, sustainability and productivity in concrete technology and applications for construction industries with aims for the exchange of knowledge and provides opportunities for industry experts, researchers, academics, and students to network in the field.
The seminar was Chaired by Dr Geng Guoqing, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering, National University of Singapore, and Board Director of ACI(SC).
Guest-of-Honor – Er. Kaliannan Thanabal, Commissioner of Building Control, Group Director (Building Resilience), Building & Construction Authority (BCA)
The seminar had the privilege to be graced by Guest-of-Honor (GOH) Er. Kaliannan Thanabal, Commissioner of Building Control, Group Director (Building Resilience), Building & Construction Authority (BCA).
In his opening address, Er. Kaliannan THANABAL stressed the importance of sustainability as the impacts of climate change that had become increasingly evident in our day-to-day lives. He updated the efforts by BCA to address sustainability issues in the built environment for Singapore’s future.
Welcome Address – Mr Lu Jinping, President of ACI(SC)
Mr Lu Jinping, President of ACI (SC), gave a warm welcome address. In his speech, Mr Lu firstly expressed his great honour and delightfulness to warmly welcome 180 participants who consist of the distinguished Guest of Honour, VIPs, keynote speakers, sponsors, and participants to attend the seminar.
He then highlighted the theme of the seminar: Innovations and Sustainability in Concrete Technology: Building a Stronger Future with an emphasis on the need to balance innovation and sustainability in an era when environmental consciousness and resource efficiency are paramount.
Lastly, Mr Lu extended his gratitude to the seminar delegates and participants for their presence, which signified their commitment to the advancement of concrete technology and their dedication to building a better world.

Prize Presentation for Green Concrete Cube Competition 2023
The annual Green Concrete Cube Competition is jointly organized by ACI(SC) and Temasek Polytechnic School of Applied Science, Centre for Urban Sustainability (CUS), aiming at facilitating the progress of the local concrete industry toward high-performance sustainable concrete technology. The competition is open to individuals, tertiary institutes, companies, and organizations.
The entries for Green Concrete Cube Competition 2023 are of very high quality. Out of 13 teams, 2 teams are from University of Malaya, Malaysia. Judging panel for the competition consists of distinguished academics and practitioners in the concrete industry. Top 5 winning teams were chosen based on the judging criteria and awarded with Gold Award ($800.00), Silver Award ($600.00), Bronze Award ($300.00), Merit Award ($200.00 each), and Commendation ($100.00 each) respectively. During the prize presentation session, each team was invited for a 5-minute short presentation to real their mysterious deign mixes for Green Concrete Cube Competition.
ACI-SC Annual Seminar 2023 – Platform for Networking, Knowledge Sharing, and Idea Exchange
With so much in store, the seminar participants were very much blessed with an excellent platform for networking, knowledge sharing and idea exchange on Sustainability and Innovation in Concrete Technologies.
In the closing speech, Assist. Prof. GENG Guoqing, Chairman of ACI-SC Annual Seminar 2023 expressed heartfelt gratitude to all who have contributed to the success of the Seminar.
